FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
The Introduction to Barbell Training or Free Group Class is your first step. Signup for Open gym. To signup for a tour, or to discuss your options signup for a tour or consultation.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
Not a lot. You will need athletic clothing that allows you to move freely, a cotton t-shirt, and hard-soled shoes. After you join you will want to purchase weightlifting shoes. After you gain some experience we also recommend a weight belt.
I HAVE NEVER LIFTED BEFORE. IS THIS APPROPRIATE FOR ME?
That is not a problem. Our Introduction to Barbell Training and our Barbell Club are designed with the beginner in mind. No experience is necessary. Our coaches will get you moving well and training to meet your strength goals right away.
AS A WOMAN, WONT I GET BULKY?
Women, in the absence of exogenous hormones that make them more like men, will never experience becoming over-muscled or masculine. Women will experience becoming stronger and more capable and can benefit just as much as their male counterparts.
AM I TOO OLD?
At Next Level Barbell we have trained many lifters in their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond. You are never too old to receive the benefits of resistance training and our coaches are ready to tailor the process to you.
I AM OVERWEIGHT, CAN I STILL TRAIN?
Yes you can, and there is nothing better that you could do for yourself. Gain strength, independence, and lose weight.
I AM INJURED OR HAVE LIMITATIONS, CAN I STILL LIFT?
Most likely you can. Rehabbing injury or preventing future injury is an excellent reason to be strength training. Please contact us and explain your unique situation. We will get back to you right away and provide any necessary accommodations.
HOW IS NEXT LEVEL BARBELL DIFFERENT?
Most gyms and personal trainers provide you the equipment and instruction to make you hot, sweaty, and tired but lack a logical progression to create results over the long term. And most “Elite” level coaches have simply forgotten what training should be at the novice and intermediate levels and have resorted to selling overly complex training systems and gadgets that only serve to distract.
At Next Level Barbell we provide the necessary equipment and instruction to make predictable, rapid, measurable progress over the long term. We are experts in making people stronger at all skill levels. Our training is simple, hard, and effective. But most importantly we provide and foster a community of amazing people through shared hardship, regular get togethers, and friendly competitions. We look forward to the day that we can welcome you to the team!
